Burghausen, February 06, 2023 - The potential that artificial intelligence (AI) already has in industrial image processing applications today and where the journey can lead will be demonstrated by machine vision expert senswork from February 23-24, 2023 at AI.BAY, the Bavarian International Conference on AI in Munich. At the booth of the Upper Bavarian medium-sized company, visitors will experience live how products from industrial manufacturing are identified and evaluated with the help of AI.

The relevance of AI in the assessment of goods is steadily increasing. senswork will provide an insight into the practical application with a demonstrator showing object identification, localization and homogeneity distribution based on crispbread and anchors. Learning, evaluation and visualization of the result is done in Neuralyze Desk, senswork's Vision AI software for industrial applications.

What is remarkable about the AI-based analysis is that even in the case of unpredictable properties or situations, such as differently browned grains or anchors lying on top of each other, a successful evaluation is usually possible. As a result, AI can be used to successfully implement a wide range of inspection tasks that were previously difficult or impossible to solve. Applications that can benefit from these advantages can be identified in all manufacturing-related industries.

AI as the silver bullet

With its multidisciplinary engineering team, the machine vision expert develops in-house the AI software, camera technology and image acquisition, as well as special machine engineering. "Through an intelligent combination of AI and rule-based analysis, we create high-performance solutions for the demanding requirements in the production environment" explains Markus Schatzl, head of the Innovation Lab in Munich. "Especially for objects with a wide range of features or natural shape variations, as is often the case with food and plants, AI is the silver bullet," Markus Schatzl specifies. For example, it allows complex shapes, such as the anchors shown at senswork's booth, to be precisely categorized with AI. The same applies to foods such as cucumbers or carrots, which are easily recognized and classified during sorting.
