Cohesion Test

Optical measurement of lap shear strength samples

So-called tensile shear strength tests are carried out in test laboratories for the standardized assessment of adhesive bonds. Different materials are glued together and then separated again by tensile forces parallel to the adhesive surface. The forces that occur in the process - but also the residue of adhesive material on the adhesive surfaces are important parameters for assessing the adhesive (see DIN ISO 4587).

With a new optical measuring device, senswork supports the measurement of the adhesive surfaces. Through a smart combination of 3D testing and color image processing, the adhesive surfaces are automatically recognized on the material samples, and overlapping areas are determined as areas without adhesive wetting through a virtual superimposition of the two individual adhesive surfaces that belong to one another.
