Before a product goes into series production, it must be extensively tested in order to detect and eliminate any product defects that may occur due to the manufacturing method. senswork has developed a manual test station for this purpose, which is used in the inspection of a wide variety of connector assemblies.

With the Workstation VisionUnit, senswork, an expert for industrial image processing, has developed a turnkey manual inspection station for optical measurement and inspection tasks. It can be customized, depending on the inspection task and requirements, as this inspection system offers numerous options for this.

Key features include a high-resolution multi-camera system for a wide range of inspection tasks, an interchangeable part fixture for inspecting different part types, a good part marking unit, a comprehensive visualization system based on senswork’s VisionCommander®, options for connection to customer-specific MES, handling systems or robots for automatic part loading.

The part fixture enables fast changeover to new part types in less than 5 minutes. The inspection time per part is around 2-4 seconds, depending on the complexity of the measurement task. The camera system offers resolutions of up to 50 megapixels and a spatial resolution of up to 1 micrometer. 2D and 3D can be optionally combined.

Workplace illumination is available to distinguish between IO and NIO inspected parts, visualizing the measurement result with colored light. In addition, good parts can be marked with a pen, needle or spray system. To record the NIO parts in a controlled manner, an optional NIO box with insertion sensor is available.

A Siemens control system with touch panel ensures the correct sequence of the inspection and provides a continuous overview of the system status. In addition, the camera images and the measurement results are displayed on a full HD screen. This enables the user to intuitively operate the testing device. The inspection itself is performed with the high-performance image processing software senswork VisionCommander.

The Workstation VisionUnit is exemplarily suited for quality inspection in pre-series production. This includes reeling circle tests and inspection of connector pins, planarity inspection of complete connector strips for PCB assembly or coding inspection of connector housings.

The flexibility and modularity of the system also allows the implementation of other optical inspection tasks for pre-series production. senswork is happy to advise you on the possibilities of implementing this manual test station.
