Burghausen, June 23, 2023 – In the future, everyone in the industry should be able to operate AI tools, set up, and maintain new testing applications. Without any AI expert knowledge at all. This is the goal of the research project DeKIOps - Democratization of AI with understandable and easily accessible Machine Learning Operations (MLOps). senswork GmbH, inovex GmbH and eresult GmbH are developing generally applicable guidelines and two demonstrators in industrial applications until the end of 2025. This is being done under the leadership of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS' working group for supply chain services.

The practical test of the developed guidelines takes place in the project. As a machine vision and AI expert, senswork is developing a Vision AI system that can be operated and maintained in the future without AI expertise. New products are taught on the machine by the customer. This is implemented in the form of a demonstrator that is used to test a spectrum of products in the large-scale production of a supplier company. Beyond the innovative AI technology, user-friendliness is a priority, both in terms of software ergonomics and UX design. The project offers far-reaching prospects in terms of customer independence from AI experts and significantly lowers the access threshold to AI in the vision sector. Therefore, this also counteracts the shortage of skilled workers.

To ensure the general validity of the framework developed, inovex is investigating a second use case in the context of time series analysis and predictive maintenance in parallel. The entire project is supported by the usability experts from eresult.
